On Saturday, April 13th, we hosted the Spring Wildlife Conservation Expo, bringing together some of the world’s most pioneering conservationists with the Bay Area’s vibrant and dedicated community of wildlife lovers.
Throughout the day, wildlife heroes set about captivating the audience with intriguing stories about protecting endangered wildlife in some of the most remote parts of the globe. They delivered their presentations with warmth, wit, and passion, inspiring many members of the audience to stop by their booths during breaks to connect directly and learn how they could get more involved in supporting these efforts. Facilitating life-long connections between conservationists and wildlife supporters lies at the heart of WCN’s Wildlife Conservation Expos. This year’s Spring Expo was no exception.
Although there were many highlights from Expo, these are just a few that we would like to share with you:
- More than 400 people attended Expo, to listen to the conservationists speak about protecting elephants, cheetahs, okapis, penguins, and great green macaws. In addition to those who came in person, over 5,000 people tuned in via livestream on WCN’s Facebook, from as far as Namibia, Aruba, Brazil, and Swaziland!
- Around 30 local, national, and international organizations exhibited at Expo, sharing updates about their work and providing attendees with information on how to make an impact for wildlife closer to home.
- Listening to the conservation speakers—Dr. Lucy King of Save the Elephants, John Lukas and Lucas Meers of Okapi Conservation Project, Dr. Leanne Van Der Weyde and Britz Malepe of Cheetah Conservation Botswana, Dr. Sam Williams of the Macaw Recovery Network, and Dr. Pablo Borboroglu of Global Penguin Society—as they shared inspiring and heartfelt stories about their efforts to save wildlife.
At WCN, we are constantly striving to make our Expos inspiring and memorable to our supporters; we hope you enjoyed the Spring Expo as much as we enjoyed hosting it.
