Our Strategies to Protect Wildlife

Conservation Partners
Wildlife Funds
Rising Wildlife Leaders

Conservation Partners

We find the best entrepreneurial organizations and invite them to receive in-depth, ongoing support by joining our Network of Conservation Partners. We provide our Partners with the financial resources, tools, and services they need to effectively protect wildlife. As all organizations in our Network go through a rigorous vetting process, donors can invest in them with confidence.

Wildlife Funds

Our Wildlife Funds offer flexible grants to projects in order to protect a threatened species across its entire habitat. The Wildlife Funds invest in effective projects from a wide range of organizations, kickstarting new approaches and bolstering tried and true conservation efforts. Each fund amplifies donor support by combining contributions, allowing for the biggest impact possible.

Rising Wildlife Leaders

WCN helps local conservationists grow and thrive so that they have the support they need to protect wildlife. We invest in these brave women and men to strengthen their skills, build their organizations, and advance their careers in conservation. Through scholarships and grants, we provide support to the local people who are shaping conservation in their home countries, ensuring we have a greater and more sustainable impact for wildlife.

What We Do

Strengthening Conservationists Building a Community for Wildlife Providing a Service to Donors Developing A Holistic Approach

Ensuring Conservationists Have Resources to Succeed

FUNDING AND RESOURCES
We offer fiscal sponsorship and help partners to fundraise, but we do so much more. Whether it’s connecting them with supporters, writing foundation grants, offering scholarship opportunities to their staff, and obtaining solar power for their organizations—WCN gives conservationists the funding and resources they need to save wildlife.

BUILDING SKILLS
Conservationists know a lot about wildlife, but might not know how to build a website or create a financial balance sheet. We offer partners opportunities to strengthen or learn new skills to make their organizations more impactful and resilient—from accounting to communications to fundraising.

CULTIVATING A NETWORK
WCN helps conservationists to collaborate and connect, including providing opportunities for partners to visit each other in the field to share experiences, support their colleagues, and make their organizations stronger by working together.

INTERNSHIPS
We offer our partners funding to hire student interns in their home countries, helping local students learn and grow and giving partners some extra assistance.

Helping Supporters Engage in Conservation

We offer supporters opportunities to get close to the conservation they care about.

ATTENDING THE EXPO
Our twice annual Wildlife Conservation Expos bring thousands of supporters together to meet their conservation heroes in person and hear their inspirational stories. At Expo, supporters can also engage with other wildlife enthusiasts; we’ve seen true, lasting friendships develop amongst donors and between donors and conservationists.

SEEING CONSERVATION IN ACTION
Under special circumstances, either on their own or with the WCN team, we can help our most involved donors travel to the field to see their donations at work protecting spectacular wildlife.

THE POWER OF STORIES
Saving wildlife is fascinating work. We keep our supporters updated on what’s happening on the frontlines of conservation through our blog, newsletter, and on social media.

Helping Donors Invest in Conservation

Similar to venture capitalists, we identify, vet, then support conservation initiatives that hold the greatest promise for wildlife. As all organizations in our Network go through this rigorous vetting process, donors can invest in them with confidence.

We can offer donors the kind of personal attention they need to help match their unique, individual interests with the right Partner, Program, or Wildlife Fund and sometimes to peers outside of our Partner Network.

Holistic Solutions for Wildlife, Climate, and People

The effects of climate change don’t just threaten wildlife, they create devastating consequences for people across the globe. Fortunately, research indicates that wildlife conservation can help naturally capture 95% of the carbon needed to mitigate climate change by 2030.

By supporting projects that restore wildlife populations and safeguard their habitats, our Network is preserving natural climate solutions that aid in carbon storage. Our Wildlife Funds protect large mammals like elephants and rhinos that are known to aid in seed dispersal and vegetation growth, maintaining healthy ecosystems that can better sequester carbon. Our Partners aid in forest restoration, marine habitat cleanup, and the establishment of protected areas, which help wildlife and people thrive while also contributing to a natural remedy for climate change.

Supporting Conservation Where Needed Most

If you want to support endangered wildlife and empower conservationists to succeed, WCN can ensure your donation goes where it is most needed. We are constantly evaluating where there are gaps in funding and where there are the highest needs for WCN, our Conservation Partners, and our Wildlife Funds.
