Future Forests for Cotton-top Tamarins

November 1, 2018

By Kaitlin Tillett

Cotton-top tamarins live only in the tropical northern forests of Colombia and spend their entire lives up in the trees. This very same habitat is being destroyed for cattle ranching, agriculture, and urban development. Proyecto Tití is working to ensure future habitat for cotton-tops by planting seedlings that will create forest corridors and provide the tiny monkeys with shelter and food.

Through this reforestation project, Proyecto Tití has planted 25,000 trees and plans to continue throughout spring 2019. In addition to planting trees, Proyecto Tití has signed conservation agreements with local landowners to protect the forests on their land.
